5 Foods that Kill Fat

If you enjoyed my article - can you do me a favor and share? Thanks!

Hi. Here is some information on 5 foods that kill fat to help with your weight loss foals. I’m slowly working my way through all of the great material that you receive in addition to the complete Diet Solution Guide. One of the free bonuses that came with the guide was a e-book called5 Foods that Kill Fat.

This is a short, quick read that will provide you with some quick information around specific foods and what they to in terms of your body fat.

It’s written by Mike Geary – Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Nutrition Specialist. He is also the author of one of the best selling online program “The Truth about Six-Pack Abs” – so you know he knows what he is talking about – especially relative  to losing that stubborn stomach fat! Reading more outlines the 5 foods to burn fat that will help any diet you are on!

This fat burning book is 20 pages long, and is organized as follows:

First he talks about grains – the paragraph leading in to this section should explain the short facts you may be shocked to learn about relative to eating healthy for weight loss:

“You probably already know that refined grains like white bread are bad for you… but I bet you think that “whole grains” are good for you and can help you to lose fat. Well, this could be a big mistake holding you back from a lean body and flat stomac”

breads, flour, and other grain products

He goes on to discuss why even “whole wheat” and other supposedly healthy grains may not be doing you any favors – basically due to the effect they have on your body’s insulin levels – this knowledge is similar to the recent changes weight watchers has incorporated into their programs where they discuss the glycemic index and why it is important to consider. You’ll find that foods that kill fat will reference or be influenced by the glycemic values of multiple foods you currently consume.

Quoted from this bonus book [certified nutritionist]:

“…raise your blood sugar fairly substantially and quickly, which stimulates an insulin spike, and triggers you to have more cravings for carbohydrate-rich foods later.”

The other fact pointed out is that a large percentage of the population has been found to have some degree of gluten intolerance, and in addition these grains are also high in calories relative to nutrient density. He explains more about this in a quite compelling way.  So basically one of the 5 foods that burn fat is opposite – you want to minimize or eliminate grains to help reduce your body fat.

Soy Foods in a Healthy Weight Loss Program

I love this short little section that follows the one on grains. Isabel also spends a lot of time discussing what the mass market wants us to believe about Soy – versus some of the real facts behind the billion dollar industry. Again, avoiding Soy is one of the strategies, again opposite in terms of  foods to lose body fat – you want to include this as 1 item you avoid as well!

Mike’s assertion [which is supported by many other studies if you do some research] is:

The first thing I should mention about soy is a little controversial — and that is the high concentrations of phytoestrogens that are found in processed unfermented soy products.

One of the other main problems with soy is that it is one of the most genetically modified crops and also one of the crops containing the highest pesticide/herbicide residue.

It will take you about 15min to read this 20 page bonus guide – yet this knowledge will have you scratching your head – as you may have thought you were eating a totally healthy diet with all the whole grains and soy products you eat. Think again. If your diet is based on the food pyramid and the marketing campaigns across these industries you may be in trouble!

Foods That Help Reduce Stomach Fat

Okay – so after Mike whets your appetite to do more research on supposedly “good” foods, he turns to five foods that will help you burn body fat – some of which may surprise you and run counter to popular media!

Sunny Side up Fried Egg

Eggs – everyone knows these are pretty healthy, but many other diets have you avoid the yolks and only eat egg whites. According to Mike [our nutritionist author]:

Egg Yolks contain more than 90% of the calcium, iron, phosphorus, zinc, thiamin, B6, folate, and B12, and panthothenic acid of the egg. In addition, the yolks contain ALL of the fat soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K in the egg, as well as ALL of the essential fatty acids (EFAs). Also, the protein of whole eggs is more bio-available than egg whites alone due to a more balanced amino acid profile that the yolks help to build.

He also touches again upon material that Isabel expands upon with a lot more context around the differences between normal eggs you buy in your supermarket versus free range, organic fed eggs. If you’ve ever read Fast Food Nation or a similar book exposing the practices of the mass food industry, you’re likely already eating free range organic chicken meat and eggs :)

Meat and Fat

Whether you’re eating healthier for weight loss, to burn body fat, or just to be healthier overall, you have to understand how your meat [i.e. beef] is raised. Normal supermarket or restaurant beef is so different than grass fed, free range beef it’s had to know where to start. Read this section of both this bonus book as well as the meat section in the Diet Solution Guide. The nutritional profile is completely different between “naturally raised” versus “mass market raised” beef.

I’ve also touched already on organic chicken – more and more stores are starting to carry this at only a modest premium relative to mass caged raised chickens. Protein is one of the key 5 foods to lose body fat – so make sure you understand the differences in lean versus fatty meats, and grain fed versus normal supermarket foods!

More Fat Killing Food Surprises

Next – Avocados. Great overview of why these have gotten an unfounded bad rap.

What Else Can I learn About Foods ?

“Nuts: Walnuts, Almonds, Pecans, Macadamia, etc — Yes, this is yet another “fatty food” that can actually help you burn fat! Although nuts are generally between 75-90% fat in terms of a ratio of fat calories to total calories, this is another type of food that is all healthy fats, along with high levels of nutrition such as vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.”

The final few paragraphs go into the benefits Berries provide and why they should be a part of any fat burning diet program. Be careful here, though, as some studies have shown high levels of pesticides in berries in particular so this should be an organic option if you plan on eating a lot of them! Berries should be on your list of foods to lose body fat for sure.

This bonus guide is really just a quick read and overview around foods to help burn fat, with links off to other information Mike provides for both free as well as for purchase. However, I’ve found that the Diet Solution Guide covers all of this information as well, and in more depth, so this guide is more of a quick summary you can absorb in a few minutes, and then you can refer back to the comprehensive diet manual for more information later!

As always, good luck on your journey to lose weight, burn body fat, and live healthier!
