The internet [not to mention your local book store and nearby strip mall] is loaded with weight loss advice – some of it focused on safe weight loss approaches, and some of it being completely unhealthy approach. Being a pill driven society, way too many people are always looking for that magic weight loss pill that doesn’t require any change in lifestyle, eating habits, or the dreaded exercise routine. You can’t pick up the paper without reading something every day about how overweight Americans are, and how many people consider themselves “too fat” – and the marketing budgets follow. However, I am a firm believer that you need to change your diet, incorporate moderate exercise [even walking every day] and basically live a healthier lifestyle to give your body what it needs, and stop ingesting items it wasn’t designed to process efficiently. This is a safe approach to weight loss.
How to Safely Reduce Body Fat
So you have your own opinion based on your own research, but my perspective is that safe weight loss started with slowly migrating your unhealthy eating habits into something your body was designed to function on – and you can do this over a period of weeks. I don’t believe in starvation diets, or even strict calorie counting diets. If you’re eating crap, it won’t really matter if you eat a little less crap if your body still has to figure out what to do with a substance that didn’t exist for most of your evolutionary cycle. Safe weight loss is all about ingesting the right foods your body is designed to run on.
Think about this – for millions of years our bodies evolved on a diet of fruits, nuts, certain vegetables, and lean “grass fed” wild game, and cavemen didn’t wonder around thinking “how to reduce body fat”. I believe the research that indicates cancer, heart disease, diabetes, etc. were almost unknown until the last couple of hundred years. Given that agriculture and “farming” has only been around about 5000 years, we’re now eating foods every day that our bodies never saw previously – corn, wheat, many “modern” grains, and the meat we eat is chock full of antibiotics, has been fed corn and other grains that historically weren’t part of the animal kingdom…is it any wonder that we’re all walking around with extra body fat and a variety of issues that are modern day diseases? Is taking a pill really the safe way to lose weight? NO! Safe weight loss incorporates a healthier lifestyle, while not requiring us to going back to wearing loin clothes (over our body fat) and living in a cave!
I’ll be honest – I’m a huge fan of the Diet Solution Program by Isabele De Los Rios. However, I’ve also been reading a lot about the “Paleo” diet which attempts to recreate the daily diet of primitive man – the theory being that our bodies evolved and were optimized for a specific type and quantity of food that is different than the last few thousand years. The good news for me is her diet program is focused on healthy eating to drive fast fat loss, as well as general overall health – and as a certified nutritionist she has managed to create a program that also incorporates many of the same principles I’ve found in the Paleo diet research I’ve done.
Weight Loss Advice for Losing Stubborn Body Fat
So I am not a nutritionist, a doctor, or any other member of the medical profession. What I am is a middle aged man with too many love handles and a previously unhealthy eating style that had me ingesting many foods my body wasn’t thrilled with. Over the last several months I’ve been researching different diets and lifestyle choices, and knowing myself I knew I couldn’t adopt something so draconian [picture little frozen entrees for every meal] that I’d not only not feel full or satisfied, but worse I’d be off the diet in a matter of days. What I personally needed to reduce my body fat was a program that was based on real science, I could implement given my local grocery stores and organic food markets, and that would make me feel full after every meal. This is my healthy, safe weight loss advice based solely on what I think is working for me!

Weight loss advice is much like talking about politics – everyone has an opinion on how to lose that stomach fat based on commercials they’ve seen, a fad diet review they saw on Oprah, or some late night infomercial with testimonials of “the pretty people”. If you don’t have time to do what I’ve done in terms of researching the science behind weight loss advice and burning body fat, find an expert that is credible, has a good track record, and that has done their research. I couldn’t afford a personal nutritionist to meet with every week, nor did I want to get on some program where I had to buy my meals from a specific company at a huge cost. Buying a book or purchasing a diet plan without a strong support network behind it is a recipe for disaster, as you want to feel someone is walking on this journey with you to lose that body fat and live a healthier lifestyle – which will naturally and safely cause you to lose weight versus using some artificial means that further taxes your poor body! My idea of safe weight loss does not involve pills, elevating my metabolism, starving myself, or running 80 miles a day!
